Intro to materials: value, line, shape, and composition
still life examples
Arrange objects either on a flat surface or on multiple levels using items you have available to you. Choose a variety of shapes, sizes, and textures. The closer the objects, the more overlapping and layering in the drawing. When drawing, be mindful of the shapes and spaces between objects. Use shadows to gauge placement and distance between objects on your paper. Keep it simple, focusing on 3-4 objects time will provide multiple options for your compositions. Dramatic lighting will help you distinguish contrast and value shapes on paper.
